Bread & Butter Freight: From Sydney to US

Updated: Sep 26, 2025

Australia was recently tasked with what some in the industry call ‘Ugly Freight’ , Overheight and Overwidth FlatRack. We call it ‘Bread and Butter Freight’, and Michelle Augustyn and her team love bread and butter.

A Tight Deadline to the U.S.

One of our regular industrial engineering clients handed us a project with a strict deadline for delivery in the US. Our ES Team jumped into action, securing a booking and equipment with our partner Hapag Lloyd Australia on the Maersk Yellowstone V528N. The empty was delivered, and our Marine Surveyor locked in the report.

Teamwork and a Touch of Red Wine

On Thursday evening, our Director Kevin attended a Hapag event to stress the importance of this box moving as scheduled (and may have indulged in a red wine or two to help emphasize the point).

Ready for Departure

By Friday, the Surveyor had completed the report, and our team attended the collection of the FCL and lodgement at the wharf. The vessel sailed as scheduled and is now making its way across the Pacific Ocean towards the good old US of A, with an ETA of 6th September.

Handing Over to the U.S. Team

Now it’s over to Michael Philpot and his team in the US, who will line up customs clearance and coordinate final delivery to site for our customer.

Stay Tuned

This is just Part 1. Stay tuned for Part 2, where we’ll share how our US team executes the delivery on site and brings this international project to completion.

The Final Mile

The second stage of this project commenced with the freight's arrival in New York, where it was smoothly transloaded and prepared for inland transportation. From there, the cargo was secured onto a lowbed truck and moved north across the border into Canada.

Our client’s facility is in Cambridge, Ontario, where delivery was completed safely. What started in Sydney, Australia, and moved through the U.S. has now concluded with a seamless cross-border delivery into Canada. Each handover, from port to truck, from state to state, and across international borders, was executed with the same attention to detail and consistency our clients expect from 1UP Cargo.

Across oceans, borders, and miles of highway, the project was delivered successfully, proving once again that with the right planning and execution, even the most complex moves can be made simple.
