New Compliance Priorities
The #CBSA has outlined these compliance priorities:
Tariff rate quota and classification of supply-managed goods
Checks on the classification of frozen desserts with 5% dairy content
Tariff classification of gloves
Third phase of verifications for gloves under headings 39.26 and 42.03
GST and excise duties and taxes
GST exemption codes
Vaping products liable to excise duties and taxes
Origin verifications for imports under:
Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA)
Canada-United Kingdom Trade Continuity Agreement (CUKTCA)
Duties Relief Program (DRP)
Checks on licensees importing supply-managed goods
The CBSA notes that these priorities may change as the risk #environment shifts throughout the year.
Maintaining Trade Compliance
To remain compliant, #importers must:
Accurately classify goods under the correct tariff codes.
Correctly declare the origin and value of goods.
Pay all required duties and taxes.
Failure to comply may lead to penalties, delays, or other issues with customs authorities.
